BOROUGH GREEN GARDENS WILL FACILITATE THE DELIVERY OF A NEW RELIEF ROAD – TO REDUCE EXISTING TRAFFIC LEVELS PASSING THROUGH THE VILLAGE.

The Bypass was first identified in the Kent and Medway Structure Plan (1996), and has continued to be safeguarded by TMBC in the Core Strategy (2007) and Development Land Allocations DPD (2008).

Following years of campaigning, Borough Green Parish Council has recognised that the Bypass is unlikely to be delivered without significant development and have changed their focus to a traffic management strategy notably:

  • The Parish Council and BG-TAG the traffic action group had drawn up an 8-step plan which has been agreed with KCC (unconfirmed). These measures included upgrading crossings from zebra to pelican, putting speed limit reminder signs up, camera warning signs and better road markings;
  • In March 2014 KCC (Michael Heath Traffic Engineer) commissioned Amey to prepare a Traffic Survey Data Report in which one automatic traffic survey was undertaken;
